GREGORY PORTER EARNS TWO GRAMMY NOMINATIONS; ANNOUNCES TV PERFORMANCES

Jazz and soul singer Gregory Porter has received two GRAMMY Award nominations in two different genre fields for his remarkable Blue Note Records debut Liquid Spirit. The album is up for Best Jazz Vocal Album, while the song “Hey Laura” has been nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance. The 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on "GRAMMY Sunday," Jan. 26, 2014, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
Porter—who ESQUIRE called “America’s Next Great Jazz Singer”—is also set to make two upcoming national television performances. The singer will appear on CBS This Morning this Saturday, December 14, as well as ABC Jimmy Kimmel Live on January 16. Porter made his U.S. TV debut on the NBC Tonight Show With Jay Leno in September with a rousing performance the album’s title track “Liquid Spirit.” Porter was also interviewed on PBS Tavis Smiley.

Liquid Spirit—which recently spent a remarkable 9 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Jazzweek radio chart (the most of any artist in 2013) in addition to 4 weeks at #1 on the CMJ Jazz radio chart—was released in September to wide acclaim with iTunes naming it an “Editor’s Choice” while Porter was featured by outlets such as NPR All Things Considered and The New York Times who called Liquid Spirit “soulful and assured,” adding that “Mr. Porter is a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift.”
