FRANK SINATRA’S “SONGS FOR SWINGIN’ LOVERS!” GETS TONE POET VINYL REISSUE TO MARK 70th ANNIVERSARY

Frank Sinatra’s classic 1956 Capitol Records album Songs For Swingin’ Lovers! will be reissued in Blue Note’s acclaimed Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Series on March 27 marking the album’s 70th anniversary. Produced for release by Joe Harley, the new Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at Record Technology Inc. (RTI), and comes packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket featuring session photos by William Claxton and Ken Veeder.

Following his melancholy masterpiece In The Wee Small Hours, the legendary vocalist brightened the mood considerably with the exuberant Songs For Swingin’ Lovers! Together, the two albums presented an enthralling duality with the brokenhearted lover of the former relishing the joys of newfound romance on the latter. Recorded at Capitol’s KHJ Studios in Hollywood, the album was once again produced by Voyle Gilmore and presented delightful Nelson Riddle arrangements of Great American Songbook standards including “You Make Me Feel So Young,” “Too Marvelous For Words,” “Love Is Here To Stay,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and more.

Anticipation has been building for additional Sinatra entries in the Tone Poet Series since last year’s reissue of In The Wee Small Hours, which was met with wide acclaim and success. Stereophile awarded the release their maximum 5-star rating for both performance and sonics with reviewer Sasha Matson raving “I’ve never heard Frank sounding like this. In gorgeous mono, it’s as if a spotlight is beaming down on him in a small club… Record of the Month, Record of the Year, Record of the Decade, Record of the Century.
