Norah Jones has released the new Thomas Bartlett-produced single, “Playing Along,” with Tarriona Tank Ball of the GRAMMY Best New Artist nominated band, Tank and The Bangas. Norah herself is a nine-time GRAMMY Award winner who won Best New Artist at the 45th Annual GRAMMY Awards. A 7” vinyl Record Store Day exclusive pairing Norah’s collaboration with Mavis Staples “I’ll Be Gone” with “Playing Along” is also available today.
“I saw Tank and the Bangas play in New Orleans in 2016 and was blown away,” says Norah. “I got in touch with Tarriona shortly after and we became friends. This was a really fun opportunity to be creative together in the studio. She’s got one of my favorite minds.”
Norah and Tarriona previously collaborated on the single “Take It Away” which was released earlier this year. The songs are part of Jones’ singles series that has also included collaborations with Rodrigo Amarante (“I Forgot” / “Falling”), Jeff Tweedy (“Wintertime” “A Song With No Name”), Brian Blade (“It Was You” “Just a Little Bit”), and Thomas Bartlett (“My Heart Is Full”). Seven of Jones’ singles were featured on the collection Begin Again, which was released earlier this year on 12” vinyl, CD, and digital formats.
Jones has also been releasing new music with her band Puss N Boots featuring Sasha Dobson and Catherine Popper including a tribute to Tom Petty (“Angel Dream”), an Amazon Original cover of Dolly Parton’s “The Grass is Blue,” and their new Christmas EP Dear Santa… which is available now digitally with a vinyl release to follow on December 13. Jones, Dobson, and Popper have also returned to the studio to work on new original music for their next album.
Jones will embark on a South American tour in December that includes concerts in Peru, Chile, Brazil, and Argentina. See below for details or visit norahjones.com/tour.
