ROSANNE CASH WINS THREE GRAMMY AWARDS

February 9, 2015

Rosanne Cash won three GRAMMY Awards today to become one of the top winning artists at the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Her acclaimed album The River & The Thread won for Best Americana Album while the song A Feather’s Not A Bird,” which she co-wrote with John Leventhal, won for both Best American Roots Performance and Best American Roots Song.

Released in January 2014, The River & The Thread was the highest charting album of Cash’s career on the Billboard 200 and debuted at No. 1 on the Folk Albums chart and at No. 2 on the Country Albums chart. It came in No. 1 on the Americana Top 100 Albums of the year chart, which is compiled by the Americana Music Association, and was included on Best of 2014 lists in The New York Times, USA Today, Rolling Stone, NPR Fresh Air, MOJO and others. Newsweek hailed it as “the work of a lifetime.”

New York’s famed Carnegie Hall recently selected Cash to curate a four-concert Perspectives series at the Hall as part of its 2015-2016 season. Perspectives is an exclusive series in which artists are invited to explore their own musical individuality and create their own personal concert series through collaborations with other musicians and ensembles. Cash will offer concerts that celebrate the thread of Southern roots music and feature some of the greatest artists working in these fields. The series kicks off October 24 when she hosts The Time Jumpers, an 11-piece band comprising legendary veterans of the Nashville music scene in Zankel Hall. On November 14, Cash brings together Ry Cooder and Ricky Skaggs in Zankel Hall joined by vocalist Sharon White. On January 15, Cash hosts the Alabama-based soul septet St. Paul and The Broken Bones, also in Zankel Hall. Her Perspectives series culminates with a special performance of The River & The Thread on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.

Cash’s 2015 tour includes a Valentine’s Day show at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, and on June 6 she will perform at a special outdoor concert at Dockery Farms in Cleveland, MS, the birthplace of the Delta blues. The event will benefit Dockery Farms Foundation. See below for a full itinerary.
